In case he hasn't noticed Alex Salmond doens't own Scotland. He is beginning to act like Idi Amin or some other despot.

Well what currency Scotland end up with after a yes vote is anybody's guess.

IN 2009, at the SNP's annual conference in Inverness, the party's former treasurer, Ian Blackford, argued that being "tied to sterling" after independence would mean Scotland having to, "pay the price in higher interest rates while being exposed to a currency that has a history of suffering from wild fluctuations".

Last week, Nicola Sturgeon said joining the euro was a "red line" for the SNP.

God knows what they will end up with.

Mugabe is a better fit, seeing as they'll end up like Rhodesia!

We have need of you again, great king.

Think his best chance is if England win the world cup. They'll all vote to leave just to get away from the gloating!

Wonder if he can fix it?

I expect Salmond to resign on 19 September, the day after he loses the Referendum. He will then become a public speaker, a director of numerous companies he was associated with in office, and he will then start buying numerous mansions for himself. He'll follow the examples of the leaders of New Labour. There will be another attempt at independence, in about 20 or 30 years time, and that Referendum will be lost too.

Standard Life

Post by David Johnson »

Standard Life, a bank that has been based in Scotland for over 180 years is looking into the possibility of moving its staff to England and is putting together a contingency plan.

The company says it wants assurances on five issues: the currency; ratification of EU membership within the target date of March 2016; the monetary system; financial regulation and consumer protection; individual taxation, especially around savings and pensions.

Over to you Mr. Salmond

Not just Standard Life..they are the tip of the iceberg (and McSalmond is the Titanic)...other multinationals with their HQs in Scotland (not many I know) will want their bases in a strong country with a global presence. The Yes vote will be dead by June at this rate...

Slightly misrepresented by the media. Here is what they actually said here:

"We have started work to establish additional registered companies to operate outside Scotland into which we could transfer parts of our operations if it was necessary to do so," Nish told reporters on a conference call on Thursday.

"This is a precautionary measure to ensure continuity of our business' competitive position and to protect the interests of our stakeholders."

I would also point out they made a similar statement in 1997!
