It's the new world of employment. Mind, the Labour government shares the blame for allowing some of these practices.

Teenager or graduate and can't get a foothold in fashion, advertising, photography, journalism etc. then work for free for a year or two. As the Tories advise, just call it volunteering and not internship.

Can't get a job in your twenties, thirties, forties etc? Then work for free in Poundland, courtesy of the government. Work experience for people who have been thrown on the scrapheap after decades of work.

Got a new job? Welcome to the world of work where self-employment (you take all the risks) is soaring and zero hours contracts (you take all the risks) are all the rage in retail.

Extreme capitalism giving workers a beating somewhere near you.
