Floating voters

Post by Gentleman »

..this flooding business is it just me who's sick to the teeth of this especially now as its a national disaster now call me Daves Tory heartlands are being effected, all of a sudden there's whatever money is needed unlike just a day before when the country was broke according to Dave.

Imagine my sadness while watching sky news aerial footage of Thames valley seeing the giant houses with their outside swimming pools full of floodwater and their boat/ cruisers bobbing up and down at the end of their gardens at their riverside moorings.

No one seemed bothered when the north got it earlier in the year.

Bet they wished they had paid more council tax now.

Don't you realise, it's getting very serious now.

For Petes sake, rich people in the South East are being effected now!

Don't you mean "affected"?

Apologies but there's no excuse for bad grammar although I did chuckle in the context of a thread criticising posh Tories.

I'm fed up seeing flood victims on TV saying "there's no-one been to see what help we need, we are just left to look after ourselves".

This is "The Big Society" in action.

Self-reliance, self-sufficiency, small government and not looking for state handouts when anything goes wrong.

Volunteers and charities to step-in to help those people who cannot help themselves.

What a stupid statement. Nobody deserves to go through the trauma of being flooded regardless of how much money you have.

There's nothing wrong with small government ? not that we have a small government ? it was the fact that the state didn't do its job properly in the first place that the flooding occurred. Had the Environment Agency de-silted the rivers, as it should have done, none of this would have happened.
