BBC spends our money to stop us knowing what it's

Post by Essex Lad »

up to.

I like the BBC. I watch the FA Cup Final on the BBC when available. I watch state events on the BBC. I think it's bloated and could do with trimming but then couldn't we all?

But is it right for the BBC to hire lawyers at taxpayers' expense to stop those same taxpayers finding out it sent several staff to a global warming seminar?

and the original blog

And should freedom from Freedom of Information requests be given to the BBC?

"The Freedom of Information Act does not apply to the BBC in the way it does to almost all public authorities in one significant respect." Where does that appear? Why, on the BBC's own website

Now the BBC says it does not accede to FOI requests regarding its "information 'held for purposes other than those of journalism, art or literature'. This means that the Act does not apply to material held for the purposes of creating the BBC's output (TV, radio, online etc), or material which supports and is closely associated with these creative activities."

The sacking of Greg Dyke ? a creative activity?
The death of Dr David Kelly ? a creative activity?
The Hutton inquiry into the 'dodgy dossier' ? a creative activity?

You might think not but the BBC does. All requests refused.

My source for the above? The Guardian ?

Yes, if the BBC could only be like that bastion of freedom, transparency and fairness, the Murdoch corporation, News International.

Long live the BBC!

You have a choice to subscribe to SKY. If you don't subscribe to the BBC you get fined....

"BBC spends our money to stop us knowing what it's up to".

Maybe the BBC doesn't want its rivals nicking their creative ideas.
Police, MI5, M16, NHS also spends our money to stop us knowing what it's up to.

The harder you cum. The more you enjoy it.

The BBC employs around 5000 people at the new Broadcasting House in London, most of whom are foreign nationals who's wages come out of our license fee, so sure we have a right to know how the money is spent.

They say they are allowing more public access to the buildings and workings of the BBC, bollocks the new building was built over a public right of way and they cannot stop you going into and walking through the building from Portland Place through to Hallam Street.

They are suppose to be making cuts this year with some redunduncies, that remains to be seen the BBC is well overstaffed from the top to the bottom, cut the license fee they would be forced to make cuts then..

Yes, of course but does the sacking of Greg Dyke come under a creative idea?

I would have thought that's a huge so what. I don't subscribe to Sky and no one forces me to. If I don't buy a TV licence I could end up in prison...

You often accuse me of going off on a tangent. Here you have. What's News UK (no such company as News International any more) got to do with the BBC using taxpayers' money to keep something hidden?
