What an obnoxious knob. Bring back Heinz Wolf instead of this boyband wannabee....

I like him, he is clearly extremely intelligent, with a real passion for science, and he is trying to bring it to the common man, in a way that we can understand, which has to be a good thing.

As for a boyband wannabee, he was/is in a very successful boyband, why can he not be good at two things? Why can a musician not also be an intellect? This is so typically British, knocking a talented person, rather than admiring and respecting them.

Such a negative attitude to life.

He was in the band 'D:Ream' who released, among others, that song the Labour Party adopted 'Things can only get better'. He played keyboards.

He's certainly very successful judging by his viewing figures, as he's regarded as having greatly boosted the popularity of subjects such as astronomy and physics.

Surely it was Patrick Moore who popularised astronomy.

According to the BBC, Professor Cox has increased telescope sales by more than 500%.

Sorry AV, I disagree. He's highly intelligent, puts things over in a way we can all understand... don't find anything obnoxious about that.

Prof Brian Cox is an excellent communicator and really a breath of fresh air. Years ago we had to put with Heinz Wolff and Magnus Pyke who were almost caricatures of the "mad professor".

At least Cox is someone who looks relatively normal and I for one find his programmes very uplifting and interesting. Until he showed it simply the other night I had no real idea how longitude was calculated using a watch.

So no you can keep your mad professors.

Obnoxious? How so?

You want to read some of the stuff you come out with.
