Thank you for completely discrediting your own argument.

Your own argument is that the EDL are pilloried in the press whilst the UAF are not. As an example of this you post "and I've always been amazed at how we are supposed to see the UAF as the nice guys" and then "yet the TV news coverage is always "many arrested at EDL march in London today"

However you obviously have no problem whatsoever digging up information from the media about arrests on both sides. Even the link that you provide in this initial thread shows that Channel 4 make it absolutely clear that there were arrests amongst the UAF and they give the numbers.

The bottom line is that the objective of the EDL demonstration in Tower Hamlets was as far as possible to intimidate and terrify the local Muslim population. The UAF are an organisation that merely reacts to this intimidation in order to show these minority communities that they are not defenceless.

If there were no mass attempts to intimidate and terrify the Muslim population there would be no need for counter-demonstrations.

I congratulate Max on the title of his piece. Since I am a dinosaur, I had
to read it twice, then got all excited. I assumed it referred to Oswald
Mosley`s lot and someone had re-enacted the Battle of Cable Street c.1935
once more in the East End ! Mind you, with dear old Oz Mosley you knew
where you stood, right down to his little Hitler moustache, Nazi salute and
uniformed thugs. Today`s fascists are perhaps more subtle......

Mosley didn't have a Hitler moustache.

I think you're getting muddled up with Charlie Chaplin.

From what i have seen about the EDL (most of it from its members) they are an Anti Muslim Organisation. So having a Hindu, Jewish and Sikh division makes sense.

However calling your organisation the English Defence League is bad name. 1) We are already defended by British troops! 2) The EDL sounds similar to other far right racist/fascist groups so some people may assume they are racist.

The EDL should have called themselves the Anti Muslim League so people know what you are really about. The leaders of EDL only have themselves to blame for choosing the wrong name for their organisation plus many of their followers also follow the BNP as well.

The harder you cum. The more you enjoy it.

We can all do the "Here's a bunch of nutters on youtube" thing.

Look here's another bunch of nutters.

Are the Muslims you include in your youtube clip typical of all Muslims? No.

Are the white British men I include in my youtube clip typical of all white British men? No.

Over-generalisation is the last resort of the ignorant.

Clever marketing by anti fascists....who killed more? Stalin, Hitler or Mao?
The fact that the EDL is relentlessly targeted for what is no more than a legally given right to protest smacks of bigotry. Democracy should be equal whether your views are left, right, centre or flatearthist. Cue Rule Britiannia.

My take on the EDL is most members are anti muslim extremism, rather than anti muslim in general, and a minority of members are just nasty racists who hate everybody. The supposedly impartial BBC however has tagged the group 'far right' and everyone now sees them as that. The EDL formed following the disgraceful abuse our soldiers got in Luton on their home-coming march a while back.
