Re: Arise Sir Mohamed Farah...
The trouble with knighting sportsmen is it always looks political, as you can always find someone who's done better, won more, achieved more and hasn't been recognised.
We should have Lord Phil Taylor if sporting achievements are recognised by awarding gongs.

We have need of you again, great king.

Gongs should come, if at all, at the end of a career.

I rather agree with andy....Farah is deserving of a knighthood but not yet.
His career is far from over and he was made a C.B.E. quite recently. I do
wish Cameron would stop being such a luvvie, he seems to want to be a
new Lord Attenborough.

Re: Arise Sir Mohamed Farah...
The man can run but does he deserve a knighthood for it? Hmm I'm inclined to think that his sporting achievements can be used for some good now he has a knighthood
He can bring attention to areas of the world and justify the aid third world countries get as an investment in people like Mo Farah. Somalis get a lot of bad press for the crime and piracy but these things are wrought form human suffering, starvation and poverty. There arre many talented and intelligent people from Somalia as well and I've met some stunning girls from there too that I wished did porn. If I had these girls I knew I would so rule the world and make slaves of men but given their muslim background not a fucking chance plus they practie genital mutilation so I'm not sure how that would look...But i digress...
If it can be used to do some good then fucking hell yeah he deserved it.
Cameron isnt in my good books right now though and I cant help but feel it was a bit willy nilly dishing this one out as a bit of a crowd pleaser, like the ISP filter blocking...He has no idea what he is talking about and this makes me feel the same way, but if Mo's gonna get it then I say snatch that motherfucker.
You earned it bruv!

"Born in Mogadishu, Somalia, lives in USA... runs for GB..".
So what? He is a British citizen. Millions of British citizens, honoured or not, live outside Britain.
Your post is a masterpiece of subterfuge. A bit like if Max Tranmere posted
"Muslim immigration to the UK. Thoughts?"

Re: Arise Sir Mohamed Farah...
It's like saying that ghurkas shouldn't be allowed to live in the UK because they weren't born here.
but...
I have no issue with him, either now living in the USA, his PR management team NOT using his full name... but what does make me smile is when the commentators/politicians/experts call him the best distance runner Britain has produced... ever... what???

You do seem to have plenty of issues with Mo Farah which is why you make so many snide comments about him both in this post and the one I provided a link to in my earlier post in this thread.
"but what does make me smile is when the commentators/politicians/experts call him the best distance runner Britain has produced... ever... what???
The fact that this makes you smile is because you are largely ignorant about Farah's background. It is an entirely sensible and correct thing to say that he is the best distance runner Britain has produced.
"Farah moved to Britain at the age of 8 years old to join his father, speaking barely a word of English.[ He has a British father, Mukhtar Farah, who was born in England and grew up in Hounslow, London. Farah's parents met during a holiday".
Now I suspect Farah was not a fully formed international athlete at age 8? What do you think, Von Boy?"
"Farah attended Feltham Community College in London. His athletic talent was first identified by physical education teacher Alan Watkinson"
"Farah represented Hounslow at cross-country in the London Youth Games. In 1996, at the age of 13, Farah entered the English schools cross-country and finished ninth. The following year he won the first of five English school titles.
Farah's first major title was at 5000 metres at the European Athletics Junior Championship in 2001, the same year that he began training at St Mary's University College, Twickenham. That year Farah became one of the first two athletes in the newly formed Endurance Performance Centre at St Mary?s. He lived and trained at the College, and took some modules in an access course before becoming a full-time athlete as his career progressed."
"In 2005, Farah moved in with Australian Craig Mottram and a group of Kenyan runners that included 10,000 metres world number one Micah Kogo. "They sleep, eat, train and rest, that's all they do but as an athlete you have to do all those things"
Farah had a whole host of athletic achievements before he relocated to Oregon in 2011 to work with top coach, Alberto Salazar in order to make the move from great to legendary runner.
Got it now, Von Boy?
