Granted... But at least there's the chance of moderation/cosenseus rather than extremes but considering the stat of politics with not a bit if difference between the parties the days of extremes have gone.
Please bear in mind the proprtional system was my attempt with at least being optimistic.

and it tells you that the turnout in British elections since 2001 has been lower than at any time since 1945.
Why do you think that is?

Ah yes, if your employer makes your working life hell before giving you the push for some trumped up reason, you are unlikely in many cases to have the dosh to fight your case for unfair dismissal.

Well, that's a very naive view. Get into politics. Okay I will put myself forward as prospective parliamentary candidate for my local constituency. Hang on, I live in a solid Labour seat so can I displace my MP? Can I persuade Labour HQ to ditch their man for me? What do you think?
I will go to the next constituency. But wait ? that's solid Tory so they won't choose me over their MP.
In the extremely unlikely event, I did get elected as an independent please tell me what I could do against the might of three large parties.

I'm very near the Olympic Stadium in East London. I've voted in EVERY election since 1984 and i've always lived in the sunny capital.

There is a difference between moaning e.g. the government is crap and analysing the objectives of the government. I, in my own small way, have attempted to do that by listing specific measures that the current government has introduced, their aims and the result.

As I suspected which is why I posed the question, you appear to be a typical Londoner i.e. you have zero concept of how London is not the UK. London lives in its own bubble of "relatively" high employment and huge wealth. Obviously there is poverty in parts of London but on the whole if you look at all the key indices e.g. employment rate, number of people long term unemployed, changes in house prices, access to community activities, etc etc. London is a quantum leap ahead of the rest of Britain. If you have owned a house in London for 20 years you have won the lottery.
It's a bit like listening to David Cameron and George Osborne going on about how "we are all in it together" etc etc. I suspect you don't moan because you have nowt to moan about.
Completely and utterly out of touch given that there are areas of the North that never recovered from the devastation arising from Thatcher's onslaught on heavy industry and the destruction of the single employer communities that resulted.
In the North East I knew people who had worked in coal mining all their lives and couldn't cope with being unemployed and committed suicide as a result.

Gotta throw my lot in here with Mr Johnsons view about London being a world unto itself but from the perspective from a neighbouring county with a reputation as the "proud" home of the offspring of thatcher.
I have the wonderful position of having all the costs of London and its social problems while having the near desolation of employment (minimum wage is about it if a pole hasn't got it) but none of the positives such as cash coming out the wazoo for services etc..
As for geezers moaning point its all we have left as there isn't anyway we can change anything unless there is mass rioting across the and and gun law.

It's not a North/South divide thing. I accept that people in some parts of Britain are better off than in other parts of Britain.
I also accept all the privileges and benefits of living in the UK brings. I always compare my situation to that of the poorest people in the world plus in some countries there is little freedom, little education, human rights etc etc.
There are millions worse off than me in the world. Compared to them i'm rich, living it up, have certain freedoms and relatively happy. That's the main reason i try not to moan.

All I would say is that for people who lose their jobs after working all their lives, it is not just the money but the loss of dignity, self respect, the sense of uselessness, the inability to cope with having all the spare time, that can be just as damaging if not more so, than the money issues.
