Ray Manzarek RIP

Post by thecocker »

Read on the BBC website earlier that Ray Manzarek died earlier, in Germany.

A true musician with a great band, who still continue to sell 40 years after the death of their charismatic lead singer, Jim Morrison. I wonder how much of today's shite will be able to say they are still shifting records 40 years later?

RIP, Ray, and thanks for the great music.

Couldn't agree more. I don't think you can over-exaggerate the importance of Manzarek to the overall sound of the Doors.

For me, his keyboard solos on stuff like Riders on the Storm and Light My Fire still sound fresh, inventive and rock like hell even now.

RIP

I was lucky enough to see the Doors perform live and was more a fan of their sound as defined by Mr Manzarek than of the vocal stylings of Mr Morrison. Still "when the musics over, turn out the light'.
