Where have I said it should be hammered? I said it should be reformed...

Very droll. I have, as I have said, nothing against immigrants. There are just too many of them here for a small country and very few of the recent ones have any link to this country. We should spend more time and effort on our links with those countries that do have a link to us ? Australia, New Zealand, Barbados, Jamaica, India, etc ? not those for whom we have nothing in common.
And before you quote some meaningless statistic about how Germany or France take as many or more immigrants than we do: 1) they are much bigger countries than us and 2) I really couldn't give a stuff what other countries do. I'm only concerned with England, my country where I live, work and pay ridiculously high taxes.
If you are happy for foreigners to run this country via the EU then fine. If you think some unelected bureaucrat in Brussels should decide who can come into this country, then fine. I don't...

Essex Lad and misinformation
I will just pick out one bit of ill-informed misinformation from your post.
"If you think some unelected bureaucrat in Brussels should decide who can come into this country, then fine. I don't..."
This is the sort of crap you get from Farage which the gullible and stupid swallow whole.
For a country to be admitted into the EU and allowed to take advantage of the free movement of labour (subject to an individual member country's attitude towards any special, transition limitations), each country in the EU has to sign an Accession Treaty for that country.
Why do you think Turkey which applied to join the EU over a quarter a century ago has still not been allowed to enter the EU, even though other countries have joined on a much shorter accession timescale?
The answer is because individual countries such as Cyprus and Greece who have a very chequered history in their dealings with Turkey, are dead against in.
Clearly you have the right to vote for whoever you want, but not the right to invent your own facts to go with it!!

Yet another specious piece of "information" from Blackpool's answer to Vic Feather. When you go to America, there is a sign that says American citizens which is where they go to get admittance to their own country. American citizens. Not American and Canadians. There is another for non-US citizens.
Here we have two signs UK and EU and Non-EU. Under EU law it is ILLEGAL for the UK Border Agency to give preferential treatment to the people who pay their wages. In other words, a former KGB colonel who tortured people has as much right to enter the UK as I do. Do you not think that citizens of a country (or in our case subjects) should not have to queue behind foreigners to get back into their own country? The reason why we can't? "Some unelected bureaucrat in Brussels..."

Re: David Johnson and specious nonsense
I can see another Essex Lad post I can send to my mates. They are still pissing themselves about your argument that because there are a number of building sites that you see in Essex, there are plenty of construction jobs in the UK. !laugh!
Ok here's some homework for you
1. Look up in the dictionary the meaning of "specious nonsense".
2. Explain to me what is specious nonsense about my statement you reply to ie. that each country needs to sign an Accession Treaty before a country can join the EU. Is this correct or not?
Put up or shut up. I love to see you slide out of answering a question specifically. !laugh!
For your extra homework, because you are talking shite. !wink!
1. Re-examine the statement "In other words, a former KGB colonel who tortured people has as much right to enter the UK as I do". This time with your brain functioning.
2. Explain what this actually means in the light of British government decisions to ban a range of non-EU members from entering Britain e.g.
3. Obviously a former KGB colonel who the British government decides that they should not enter the UK does not have "as much right to enter the UK as I do".
4. How do you then explain that a Russian needs a visa to work in the UK? Do you need a visa, Essex Lad to work in the UK? Yes or No
"You (Russians) must obtain a visa before you can come to the UK to work or do business.
Generally, you must apply in one of the following categories:
Tier 1 of the points-based system - for investors, entrepreneurs, exceptionally talented people and recent graduates of UK universities
Tier 2 of the points-based system - for skilled workers who have been offered a permanent job
Tier 5 of the points-based system - for temporary workers with a job offer, and participants in the Youth mobility scheme
domestic worker in a private household
representative of an overseas business
4. Explain why "Do you not think that citizens of a country (or in our case subjects) should not have to queue behind foreigners to get back into their own country?" seems to be a horrible humiliation for you? After all, it works in a similar way as I recall in other EU countries I have visited.
Put up or shut up. Once again give us a laugh by replying!
