No, she was Jack Carter's girlfriend, who he called from his classy boarding house, the Las Vegas, on a big black bakelite phone for a bit of phone sex, maybe the first time many people had thought of using the phone in such a way! Mind you, back in 1971 many people had to share party lines with the neighbours, so you'd have to have been a bit careful.

ah yes i remember now. The landlady got a cheap thrill listening to Jacks dirty talk to Britt back in London. Jack was seeing her behind her villian boyfreinds back "wotsa matter wiv you? you got gut ache or summink?"
