Not so sure about iPhones but I do know networks can block a phone ota if they have the emei number.

There are apps available for tracking but it's a bit late to try and install one now it's missing.

You probably didn't do it but there is an app called Where's My iPhone which is on iCloud.

It depends on where you lost it, a couple of years ago i left mine on a train coming into London and kept ringing it with no reply, but it had been handed in to lost property, the guy said when i went to collect it that they just bag them and never answer them, i guess i was lucky as there are still some honest people around, best of luck with your search..

You could try texting it, something like "THis phone is lost/stolen. Please call XXXXXXXX if found"

Depending on the setup, this may show on the lock screen, or be in the text list when the battery has run out and you can no longer ring it.

Next time install and activate "find my iPhone" app first.

We have need of you again, great king.

If you've purchased it on contract then I would definitely inform them of it's loss. They may be able to turn it off, making it harder for anyone who has it to sell on. It will also prevent them running up a big bill.
