I came across this recently, and thought it might be of interest, especially to London residents. It shows where EVERY single high explosive bomb dropped on London during the Blitz, October 1940 to spring 1941, landed. If you live in London you can find whether your street got plastered or not.

Interesting stuff. The most significant place they hit was the area around Barbican and Moorgate. The three huge Barbican towers, and the lakes, school, concert hall and everything else in that region, were built on a massive bomb site.
When the whole of London was being attacked Winston apparently said that so long as St Paul's is protected we can lose the entire city and it doesn't matter - because St Paul's IS London. He instructed the crews to leave their posts and head for that great cathedral to ensure it survives. It did, London did, and we did. We love you Winston.
