We need a better full back!

Post by max_tranmere »

Quite a good match today, beating France 23-13 in the rugby. I am pleased we are as yet unbeaten in the Six Nations. Our full back though, whatever his name is, isn't up to much - particularly in the first half. Anyone else watch this and what did you think? (btw the women's match starts in a minute on the red button! I night watch that too).

A brutal game. Glad I packed in playing when I was in my teens...11 stone 6 would get crushed these days!

I played it for years when I was younger, I never really got hurt although it can be brutal. I've always thought professional footballers are wimps compared to what professional rugby players have to put up with. A footballer gets tapped and he's on the ground supposedly in agony. A rugby player gets hit, shoulder first, by an 18 stone geezer sprinting at him, and he gets up and carries on.

Scotland v Ireland

Post by max_tranmere »

Truly amazing that Scotland won today. They beat Ireland 12-8 and it's apparently their first win at home in ages. They lost every game at Murrayfield last year. Ireland had 80% of the possession today, and they scored the only try, but still lost the match. Ireland fluffed some chances in the first half, and their place-kicker isn't up to much. He missed three or four chances although he had a hard angle to kick from with most of them. Well done Scotland, a surprising win but a win all the same. There is now going to be massive pressure on Ireland coach Declan Kidney following Ireland's poor results of late.
