So already living out there before the fame, I didn't know that but it still leaves a sour taste after all its British cash paying for him to get all that training I imagine so at least you'd think it would be with a uk trainer.
A way all pretty moot to me as the idea of the sinking of million into te quest or some tin plate medals sickens when we have people in poverty here in the uk.
Mo Farah relocates to USA
Re: Mo Farah relocates to USA
I concur Gentleman!! well said!
and yes I do think people like Mo should spend their "public" earnings in the UK... every little helps...
why didn't his family go straight to USA when leaving Somalia ??...he could have ran for team USA then!

He did have a UK trainer for all his athletic career until the last 2 years when he started with Salazar. Salazar is just one part of the overall package where Farah is based in Oregon as part of the Nike Project which has leading edge stuff like houses where the air is filtered to lower the oxygen level to copy life lived at altitude. It was the whole approach which persuaded Farah to believe that he needed this to get to the top. And he has been proved correct.
As to what UK Athletics pay for Farah's training, I don't know. Clearly a lot of the facilities are paid for by Nike because it was Nike that set up the entire project initially to train American distance athletes.

And that is an entirely different discussion given I suspect no modern Olympics makes money. However, I thought a great deal of funding for athletes comes from the lottery and it was envisaged that this would be the case when it was setup. This explains how the funding works

Probably because Mo Farah's father was born in the UK and brought up in Hounslow.

According to this, Mo Farah moved to the USA one year before the 2012 Games - so a year and a half ago:
Re: David J
Well according to all the information I have gained is that his father was Somalian and Mo was born in Mogadishu in 1983....
From my viewpoint I don't care... but I hate the people who shout down big business, who employ 1000's, but won't hear a bad word against their sporting heroes!!

Von Boy, I would suggest you look elsewhere for your sources of information. I am referring to where Mo's father was born. Where Mo was born is irrelevant to this point.
"Born in Mogadishu, Somalia, on 23 March 1983, Farah spent the early years of his childhood in Djibouti with his twin brother. He later moved to Britain at the age of 8 years old to join his father, speaking barely a word of English. Farah's father was born in England and grew up in Hounslow, London; his parents met after his father went on holiday to Somalia"
and a number of other sites on the Interweb!
