Worth pointing out that the poster who made that comment was the same as the poster who made the very sick comment about the US School shooting.
I think that says a lot about the character of that particular "Gentleman".

Almost as funny as those who think it's OK to go round committing ABH with pool cues (and boasting about it on a public forum) calling OTHERS "scum" and "low lifes". Now THAT was funny!!
> Its funny to read one posters objection to a black Guinevere and another poster to fit the reasons why it is not a stretch of the imagination by having white folk play people of another race or colour.
Surely it depends on the context? A black Guinevere is more of a stretch than a white Cleopatra, given that from what we know Cleopatra was more "white" than "black" and that Guinevere (if she existed at all) was most likely "white". I think that's what he meant. And John Wayne as Genghis Khan was probably one of the worst miscasts in film history.
Obviously having an all-white "Roots" cast is a silly idea (though I don't think the poster was being serious and was just trying to get a reaction). But an all-black "Wizard Of Oz" (or even LOTR) - why not, given that it's just a story with no historical "race template"?

Re: Race issues...
An all white Roots cast is about as crazy as Ali G's idea for an all black parliament. I remember the sketch, and it was a conversation with some scholar who didn't know he was an actor.
Ali G: "don't you think it's about time we made Parliament all black?"
Boffin: "all black?"
Ali G: "yeah, that's right"
Boffin: "no I think there should be a mix of races there"
Ali G: "so you don't think it should be all black, but instead have a mix of people - don't you think you're being a bit racist?"
Boffin: "no I think you're the one being racist for wanting other races excluded"
Ali G: "speak to the hand cos the face ain't listening!"

The already did a all black wizard of oz it was called the wiz with a young Michael Jackson and Diana Ross if memory serves correctly.
Re: Race issues...
Funny I was thinking that about the violence it's not exactly the tolerance that was being preached for.
Re: Race issues...
Well regarding my school shooting comment remember folks it's all about everyone living together in harmony where all views, colours, cultures and twisted senses of humour are treated as valid as each other.

Great example to set for the grandkids as well eh Kim?!
Someone's rude and gives you a bit of verbal, just wrap a pool cue round their head and knock 'em out.
Nice one.

Yeah, some people eh Eric. Just can't take a joke!
Not so much rude as out and out racist. In the immortal words of Woody Allen "You don't argue with fascists, you hit them over the head with baseball bats".
Don't knock it, the concept worked fine with Oswald Mosley and his Blackshirts in Cable Street in the thirties.
