Well up to a point Lord Copper (look it up), but as you can see in the extracts from recent official reports quoted below, the main source of revenue for the nation's 43 forces comes from the taxes we pay to central government.


'The percentage of individual forces? gross revenue expenditure financed through central Government provision varies from 83% in the West Midlands Police to 51% in Surrey Police.'

'Overall, central government in one form or another, accounts for 76% of police funding.'


So as you can see, we would all be paying for your wasting of police time if you decided these rather lame emails merited the attention of 'the authorities'.

Lot's of time on my hands? Well yes but it is well spent refuting inaccuracies, misconceptions and errors. Just ask DJ about that. And it certainly doesn't annoy me, though I am getting a little tired of having to decipher your trickle of conciousness postings before I can reply. Do you read them to yourself before you post them?


As for time well spent, even an hour out of the crowded 'internet Police' timetable would be a waste in my book.

Finally, its the very fact that I AM a UK tax payer that gives me the right to say when I think someone would be wasting time and money that would be better spent fighting crime.

Is that such a bad thing? What would you want the police to do? Find out who it is and say stop sending emails to you?

I think at best they will take your details down but not get back to you. I've known them to do that to more serious cases involving domestic violence.
