Dont get me wrong, if these "celebs" have carried out any sexual offences against children, young girls whatever then they deserve all that the law has to throw at them. These sort of offences are abhorent.

However with that firmly said, there is just the smallest part of me that cant help but feel there is a bit of 'celeb bashing' going on here. "Oh yeah he's a celebrity, now you come to mention it he did slap my bum once...and it left me traumatised for life...how much in compensation you say??" I think its very easy to accuse, afterall the alledged offenses are so serious the police have a duty to investigate but I am slightly against this sort of Daily Mail witch hunt type of culture in which the country seems to be plunged.

It will be most interesting to see how many of these cases are brought and the verdicts delivered.

This year we have discovered that every white football player and referee is racist and every living celeb from the sevenites and eighies was a child molester.........or have we??

I do wonder how they will ever be able to prove all these claims against all these celebs who are currently being nicked for sexual assault, rape, child molestation, and everything else. Anyone who does any of those things should be locked up for life as far as I'm concerned but if it's a historical event and the person being accused denies it (which they always do) what can the litigators do? They may aswell flip a coin to decide: "if it lands on heads you go to prison, tails and we acquit you." There is no evidence in most of these 'cases' so it's one persons word against another persons.

We were discussing this in the office yesterday and my boss, who was a victim of domestic violence in her first marriage, said there needs to be a maximum time after which you can't make a valid claim. 1977 is getting on for 4 decades ago, why now to make allegations? In response some male colleagues totally disagreed and said the perp should be punished no matter how far back, but was almost impossible to prove.

Its all got out of hand, its daft and its totally British. Child molestation
happens everywhere and is deplorable, but no where on Earth is it an utter
media obsession like the UK. I know of one person actually frightened to
visit Britain now because everyone living there - almost everyone - seems
to be a child molester, at least based on the level at which it is reported ad
nauseum by the Press/TV. You and I know this attitude is silly but your own
media have created it.
