BBC Boss - No shortlist
Err how exactly is this allowed? Royal Opera boss should be well in touch with the man / woman in the street. No shortlist and he didn't even apply last time around. Jobs for the boys or what?
Re: BBC Boss - No shortlist
No doubt he's an old mate of Lord Pattten. They will have met at the opera don't you know. His new job pays ?450,000 a year. nice work if you can get it.

And it seems he can draw ?82k pension on top of his new salary. I am now loking for a job at the BBC, gravy train here I come!
Re: BBC Boss - No shortlist
All paid out of the licence fee of course.
They should have given the job to Lord Prescott, he's looking for something to do. Nothing too much, just a few hours a week, this job would be ideal.

Argie
1. The BBC is one of the biggest broadcasters in the world with over 23,000 employees.
2. It has an operating expenditure of about ?5 billion.
3. Compare the DG pay and terms with those running private sector companies of a similar size.
4. Calm down.
God Save the Beeb.

How does that compare with the pension Fred Goodwin is drawing...?
Seriously, there is a gravy train problem with the BBC, but that sits more in the overstaffed next executive layer, not so much at the very top.

Sorry DJ but nobody at the BBC gets badly paid. Low level journos on ?35k + expenses, unless that is a poor wage by your standards....

It creases me up when you make these all embracing statements when you clearly haven't a clue what you are talking about. It just fits in with your political view.
