Another MP with his snout in the trough.
Former Labour Minister MacShane, had submitted 19 false invoices which were "plainly intended to deceive" according to Parliament's expenses authority. Apparently he was sending invoices to himself and paying the cheques, then claiming the money back from the taxpayer.
Not the most sophisticated of scams!
I trust the police will be looking into criminal charges against MacShane on the back of the report that came out today.

He could be the next Labor chancellor!

I suggest a fast track system for fiddling MPs. Just chuck em in the chokey and do away with expensive trials.

He was even inventing fake names and companies, in order to make the claims look authentic.
It's straight, out and out, fraud.
A level up from the plain old greedy bastards, that claimed for moat restoration and bijou duck palaces.
How can he not be heading for jail.

"How can he not be heading for jail."
You may well think so, but.....
"Conservative MP Philip Davies has written to the Metropolitan Police, who closed an inquiry into Mr MacShane's expenses in July, asking them to reopen it in light of the report - which he said contained new evidence. The Met said it would now consider the contents of the report in due course."

Re: Bamboo
Good, bout time politicians played to the same tune as us. My monthly mileages, usually between a tenner and fifty quid are authorised twice before they get forwared to payroll.....if only MP's had such a vigilant system.
