Related to same website for which I've asked a hosting query, but I'd rather keep this as a separate topic.
What are the views on how many different video formats and resolutions you should offer for each video?
Using Freemake as an example, you could end up with a page full of formats if you provided for each possible format/resolution combination!
What is a happy medium to provide these days?
e.g.
1 higher res to cover PCs, laptops and tablets
1 lower res to cover smartphones, handhelds
Formats offered: WMV, MPEG and Quicktime
That would mean 6 different video download options per video. Is that overkill, or is too many options never a bad thing?
The original video is recorded in full AVCHD Camcorder format.
Cheers

Re: offering multiple video resolution options?
Use H264 as the compressor and make one version 1280x720 for full screen computers and another version 480x270 for phones. These are 16:9 ratios, if youre not filming in 16:9 by now, thsts your tough shit!
I'd use QuickTime Movs. These run on iphones ok. But I'm mac biased and I have a slight 'if it doesn't work on a PC, that's your problem' attitude I'm afraid.
