I tagged along the march yesterday against cuts organised by the unions in London and made my way to Hyde Park to hear what the speakers had to say.
The union chiefs were all calling for a general strike which appeared to go down well with the many 100s of thousands who were gathered in the park, then Ed Milliband came on and made his speech basically saying that a future Labour goverment would not reverse the cuts which as you would imagine didn't go down to well with the crowd.
Later at home i watched the news reports about this event where they stated that Ed Milliband did have a few hecklers whilst making his speech and i can tell you it was a lot more than a few, i was right up the front just a few feet away from him and as he came on stage he was greeted with explan'atives such as wanker, cunt, arshole and many more.
He looked very uneasy as he made his speech which lasted just over seven minutes where he then made a swit exit, Ed Milliband is in the unions pockets and i heard they all went off later for lunch and talks so i have no doubt that the unions will have a big say in Labours next election manifest.
Its quite clear whoever is in power after the next election austerity is here for some time to come so we had better get used to it...

"Ed Milliband is in the unions pockets and i heard they all went off later for lunch and talks so i have no doubt that the unions will have a big say in Labours next election manifest."
Err, do you not see the contradiction in arguing on the one hand that there was loads of trade union, catcalling, at the same time that you argue Miliband is in the trade unions pockets?
Have you not heard speeches by trade union leaders slagging off Miliband?
Trade union money represents abou 40% of the Labour party funding.
Would you prefer a political party gets funding from people who work in the UK, pay all their taxes as employees or would you rather support a party like the Tories which is funded largely by finance companies, large corporates and very rich individuals who specialise in tax avoidance techniques?
And finally, given Thatcher brought in a whole range of anti-trade union legislation, can you tell me what parts of this legislation that the Blair and Brown governments of which Miliband was a Cabinet Minister, repealed?

Re: Graham
I'm not shooting the messenger Graham.
I am just questioning the logic which says that Ed Miliband is in the pockets of the trade unions when not a single piece of trade union legislation was repealed as far as I can recall when he was in the government and when he is comprehensively slagged off for his speech by trade union members and pilloried by trade union leaders.
It doesnt make sense does it?

Forgot to say
"Im only telling it as it was, dont shoot the messenger "
You are only in part telling it like it was in the sense that you describe what happened at the demonstration.
The "Ed Miliband's in the pocket of the trade unions" is your own spin which in my view is incorrect as the facts about Labour's relationship with the trade unions over the last 20 years illustrate.
