RYDER CUP victory

Post by welkram »

Not sure how many of you play golf or perhaps just watch, but whichever category you fall into then yesterdays climax of this 3 day golf classic was truly exciting. I don't have Sky TV so to keep up to date I had to listen on 5Live.

Golf bores me shitless TBH and I'd rather watch grass grow. Same with cricket.

But well done Europe anyway. Always nice to see the Yanks taken down a peg or two in anything.

Shouting "get in the hole" should be a capital offence, punishable by summary execution by the stewards.

We have need of you again, great king.

I'm not a golfer but I thought this was fantastic. Like you, I listened to it on Radio Five Live and thought they did a brilliant broadcasting job.

I'm not a golfing fan particularly, but I was on the edge of my seat listening to this.

Amazing comeback.

As a Golfer of some 34 years that was by far the best 6 hours of entertainment I have ever seen. I was genuinely nervous! So sad that the bible bashing yanks got turned over.

Peter, that's what made the come back and eventual victory so sweet.

I found the american crowds to be a bunch of loudmouthed, unsporting twats. Shouting during the Euro's shots and booing them.

I tell you what, I have absolutely no idea who is going to win the BBC Sports Personality. I heard that Ian Poulter is now in the frame, along with myriad Olympians, Paralympians and of course Andy Murray. Even John Terry's got his fingers crossed !wink!

Well thank you all, a good response.

When I first posted this I was concerned that there would be hecklers on the sidelines and a few shouters at the back, but pleased to see that even the unbelievers amongst you (the non-golfers) were happy with the result.

To my mind the victory was sealed when one of the Sky announcers said that George W and a few of his cronies (my words not Sky's) were in the crowd cheering on the American team to victory.

In my opinion being a sport fanatic (especially football and golf), this biannual event is by far the most fantastic entertainment possible. As I always do, I watched the whole lot glued and mesmerised by the pure talent and theatre of it all. This year was the best ever because of the truly amazing comeback by the European team, made special by them dedicating the victory to the late and sorely missed Seve Ballesteros. Stunning !
