Sky News excel themselves...
Sky News have interviewed the husband of murdered Police constable Sharon Beshenivsky about what should happen to Tory Whip Andrew Mitchell following his alleged verbal abuse of the Police officer at the Downing Street gates. I notice Sky say "the husband of Sharon Beshenivsky says..." (which implies he publicly said this and they are just quoting him). What they should say is "we contacted the husband of Sharon Beshenivsky and asked him what he thought about this..."). The two things - the murder of a Police officer, and the verbal abuse of one (an officer who would no doubt have been verbally abused numerous times in his career)- are hardly comparable. Imagine the editor in Sky's newsroom: "I've got an idea chaps, let's track down the husband of murdered Police lady Sharon Beshenivsky and get his take on the Andrew Mitchell verbal abuse story!".

You don't need to imagine it. That's exactly what would have happened.
