Evidence? How about using your own eyes David.

You must have seen the TV footage from the day. There were FAR too many people congregating in too confined a space outside the Leppings Lane end, all of them desperate to get in and see the start of the match, with a free-for all ruck to get in (without ticket checks) when the police opened those other gates in panic.

Just because the enquiry says that there was "no evidence" of excessive ticketlessness is a bit meaningless really if you think about it, because once the disaster started to unfold, I think it's fair to say that the last thing on anyone's mind would have been checking people's tickets to make sure that they were in fact where they were supposed to be, no?

No turnstiles on those gates (normally they're exit-only gates), so it will probably never be known excatly how many fans entering through them did have tickets and how many didn't.

But tickets or no tickets, that crowd build-up outside was clearly the root cause of the tragedy. And I don't care how many "independent enquiries" airbrush that fact out. It defies common sense to argue otherwise.

I say "root cause" because clearly the mistakes by the police (and other factors) compounded it all. And the cover-up afterwards was inexcusable.

But to claim that all that thousands of Liverpool fans outside pushing and shoving to get in wasn't at least a contributory factor is crazy. Just a shame that it's too politically incorrect for any enquiry or politician to say so, as the issue is just too emotive.

Right the politically manipulated truth is out in the open. Now move on with some dignity and stop living in the past.

Would that be the same Heysel after which Liverpool fans were trying to pass the buck, claiming that it was really Chelsea fans in disguise and/or Combat 18?

"It's just not "politically correct" to attach any blame to any Liverpool fans, and so that element of it gets swept under the carpet so as not to upset the families."

To summarise then Eric. The Taylor report is wrong. The report produced today is wrong. Cameron who stated "the Liverpool fans were not responsible for the disaster" is wrong.

And Flat Eric is correct. You are truly pathetic!

That was the one where 14 Liverpool fans who according to you "can never do anything wrong because of political correctness" got involuntary manslaughter convictions and English football clubs including Liverpool Football club got a 6 year ban from European competition.

The police made mistakes but how how thick do you have to be as a fan to run towards a pen that is already crowded?? Oh look its a bit packed over there I think ill join everyone now these gates have been opened and get a really good view of the match!!! Poor policing and thick scousers = disaster.

When the gates were opened the fans had two choices, enter an already packed pen or remain outside...what did they do.charge into the ground. Well done! They are as much to blame as anyone else.

Now lets talk about Hysel......

You do like to misquote people don't you David?

What I said was that it's (quoting myself here) "not politically correct to attach any blame to any Liverpool fans", by which I quite was obviously referring **specifically** to Hillsborough because of its highly emotive nature in Liverpool.

Heysel (which was a completely different kettle of fish anyway) wasn't even being discussed here, and it has absolutely sod-all to do with Hillsborough.

Why don't you take the advice that you sanctimonously dish out to others on occasion, and start your own thread about Heysel if you want to bang on about that?

Which was due to a failure of police control. If the police had followed normal procedures it wouldn't have happened.
