Didn't Cameron see Hunt's performance at Leveson or read his texts to James Murdoch?
Fuck me, I wrote awhile ago about how Jeremy Hunt would be a fantastic replacement for Jim Dale in a remake of Carry on Doctor and now he is Health Secretary.

Can't wait for shots of him peering down a buxom nurse's cleavage or tripping over a bedpan and collapsing in a heap on a oap with a leg fracture.
Give me fucking strength!

Re: Jeremy Hunt, Health Secretary
1. Not have Jeremy Hunt anywhere near it.
2. Only have private companies to provide services to deal with peaks of demand instead of using them for bread and butter ongoing services.
3. Get rid of PPI projects for hospital building etc etc.
4. Look to reduce the number of managers doing pointless assessments which hospitals get around in innovative ways anyway.
5. Re-state and re-emphasise the aims and objectives of the NHS.
6. Stop having a reorganisation every five minutes just because there is a new NHS Minister in cabinet.
7. Rollback that idiot Lansley's disastrous Health Bill.
What's yours, Argie?

Couldn't agree more but it'll never happen because politics is essentially a form of theatre with the actors (the politicians) desperate to be seen to be doing something and "making their mark" and fuck the consequences because whatever they do will never affect them personally anyway.
That's why they're always coming up with "bright ideas" and tinkering around with things like education and health. Tory and Labour alike, they're all equally fucking inept and useless.

"Tory and Labour alike, they're all equally fucking inept and useless".
As you know, I can't share completely your pessimism. In my mind the people who think all the three main political parties are the same either:
1. Don't consider anbody other than themselves, so if they are no better off under the Tories than they were under Labour, political parties are all the same or
2. Well off to the point that it doesnt matter who is in power they will still be creaming it.
I have frequently given a list of what Labour did in power for the less well off say e,g. minimum wage, disability recognition, tax credits, SUrestart etc etc. and then asked people to describe what Thatcher did and the only thing anyone can ever come up with is council sales. And as far as I can see council sales is just another privatisation where a few get summat for next to nowt and the rest of us pay the bill in huge council tax benefits that go to private landlords.
Maybe I have been brainwashed by my upbringing in a mining community with a father who was a welder in the shipyards, but I don't think so. For me I have personally experienced enormous differences between the political parties in power in terms of actions, intentions and achievements or otherwise in the areas I've lived in. That isnt to say that Labour haven't made loads of mistakes, some of them huge, in government but I can't accept that they are just the same as the Tories.

We had all of that discussion ages ago. Please use the search facility.
As I have said many times what matters is what people do in power. I know what the Labour government did in power and I know what Thatcher did as well as the current coalition and I repeat there are many differences.
If you disagree, that obviously is entirely your prerogative. But I can tell you from the point of view of the vast majority of people in the North of England, your take on it is bonkers.

When one reads some of the biased, racist, reactionary, snobbish, xenophobic, homophobic, bigoted, misinformed, conservative, welfare-state bashing, claimant demonising, misanthropic and misogynistic outpourings from some of the posters on this forum, thank goodness there is DJ to offer a well researched and cogent counterblast.
