Flunkies

Post by welkram »

Recent article in the telegraph, "We must spend more to build a better future" by Vice-Admiral Sir Tim laurence.

Is that name familar to you, yes it's Mr Princess Royal.

Vice-Admiral?????

Sir?????

I understand that in the article he identified himself as "a senior advisor PA Consulting Group". Does this mean that he's no longer in the Navy, bet he still loves dressing up in his Gold Braid.

My God, how do these people get these jobs, no- don't tell me.

Perhaps we should all start using our ex millatry rank.

A much older cousin of mine (minor Public School, 3 generation family bussiness sold in the '80's became a millionaire, ex chairman of the bench etc, etc), always refers to himself by his highest National Service Rank -
"Acting Lance Corporal- unpaid".

If I had a letter fron a British General / Admiral / Air Commodore Ret etc, that would be just the way I would answer it.

I suspect most of us don't have an ex-military rank. It's bad form to use a rank below (I think) major - which is why people took the piss out of Robert Maxwell when he started calling himself Captain Maxwell after he left the Army.
