Well Frank, I think the poor woman has been driven out of the country by crazed, psychotic hatchlings of New Labour. Nutters who think nothing of spewing the most horrific abuse and threats to anyone they take a dislike to!Do you not think that they would not tear Ms Mensch limb from limb and possibly devour her if it were not illegal?
Remember the "House of Terror" down the road from you in downtown Budapest, where the blood stains of people like Ms Mensch still stain the walls, blood spilled for having an opinion that differed from the "Party Line". Do you think for a second these people would not dust off the cow prods and the implements of torture given the chance?
What chance would Ms Mensch have against this lot, no wonder she's fled to New York!!!

It is also worth pointing out that she recently set up her own social networking site business and apparently she is expected to spend more time promoting that.
Throwing in the towel after only 2 and a bit years as an MP to spend more time with her family is a bit unexpected. She must have had a good idea, surely of the extent of the work commitments before she put herself forward for selection by the Tories and then in the 2010 election.

I'd have thought she'd have people working for her on that. I'm not sure she's any sort of web developer, coder or general hackwizard. As for the 'promoting' of a networking site........I'm not sure how one goes around promoting such a thing in the real world. There's certainly no precedent with regards to aggressive, non-cyberspace promoting of facebook, twitter, g+, instagram and flickr in the past. No, it's either something she has up her sleeve yet unannounced or it really is about family and hubby commitments.

Sometimes we take on things that are too much. Too much overtime, too many classes, too much ale! She won't be the first and last to take on a career only to find out it's not for them.

You are right. I don't see her as some web developer/coder etc. However maybe, social networking site was not the best way to describe her recently setup business.
It's a microblogging site with lots of different sections e.g. forums on topics such as American politics. Certainly her co-founder is looking forward to a US move. Luke Bozier, the former Labour strategist turned Tory and co-founder of Menshn, said her move to the US would also be "more of a help than a hindrance" to the fledgling website, given their desire to build up a bigger presence there.
SHe also has her literary ambitions. Earlier this year she was asked whether she would prefer winning the Booker prize to joining the cabinet. "I don't want the Booker prize, so I'll take the cabinet minister," before adding, "but if they gave me a choice between having a movie made [out of one of her books] and being a cabinet minister, I'd take having the movie made."
Clearly, not a lady who is going to be short of things to do anyway.

Jimslip - loveable wag?
Ah loveable Jim Slip. What a wag. Everybody thinks you are talking arse so you say "Oh so easy to wind up".
I used to think it was all an act, this non-stop hatred of New Labour.
Until I logged onto another public forum, where you were begging others on the site to come and attack people like myself with non-right wing views on the BGAFD who disagreed with you.
That was no wind up, Mr Slip, was it?
You know Jim, the site where Sam Slater and I were viewed as "metrosexual, left wing loonies"; where there were conversations about how best to get us banned from BGAFD ; where Sam Slater was someone who "needed decking", who needed "shooting".
Quick gardening point: Sam has checked at B&Q and he definitely doesn't need decking.
Of course, you could deny this, if I am misrepresenting your actions Jim?
Hypocrite!
