Yep, exactly right. It makes a welcome change from the endless moaning on MOTD from managers and players about how "we wuz robbed" by the referee.
There was a great paragraph from Marina Hyde in the Guardian (yes, I know, what else would I be reading) which summed it up well.
"Britian is having a national moment where hard work and near-anonymous sacrifice are being joyously rewarded and it's almost unspeakably marvellous to be celebrating the dedication of Lizzies and Heathers and Gregs who've shivered in icy training sessions, who've feared for their funding, who've never nearly crashed their Aston Martins during a row with their agent over an extra ?5k a week and who you're convinced would be the most brilliant giggle on a night out to celebrate their medals if they'd only let you tag along and let you tell them you bloody loved them 600 times before you all lost your coats and got everyone on the night bus home to sing Heroes. "
Says it all, I think.
Super Saturday

All these athletic tossers has John Terry worried that he may struggle to win sports personality of the year 2012.

Re: Super Saturday
Normally I am not a sports fan, as Mr Wells can vouch, but even in far off
corners of the globe (well Budapest district 5) Olympic fever is at
unprecedented heights. I was so proud to see what Team GB pulled off on
saturday (and every day), it was also thrilling entertainment. Come on now,
Team GB, creep up on the Yanks and kick butt !!
I might also add that little old Hungary with no money at all to put into its
sports training, is doing incredibly well, 10th in the medal table as I write
this with 4 golds....and sitting at a Budapest open bar, with 500 stunning
girls in shorts, all glued to the Olympics on giant telly, is a hell of a way to
spend an evening !

Hi Frank,
How was the opening ceremony received in Hungary?
Just trying to gauge it around the world.
My colleague in China said that they lapped it up but then, she's noticed that most event coverage since then is extremely edited. To the point that, in some events, you only see the Chinese athletes, throughout.
My Aussie based friends found it, in the main, a great spectacle and since it started, they are reluctantly and gradually, giving in to the Mother country's superiority.... this time.
