No, because the Olympic budget only covered the costs which were paid from the general public purse. That's what came in under budget. The London council tax being paid for the Olympics isn't part of that and goes to LOCOG who have an entirely separate budget of their own and are on course to break even for the Olympics.

I've been surprised at how much coverage there's been of the Olympics since it ended and how, for example, some newspapers did souvenir editions last weekend. That kid who is the famous diver has been on a few chat shows and I imagine Victoria Pendleton will become quite a big star now. This is the gap period between the Olympics and the Paralympics now though, and I do wonder how much we'll all be talking about it all subsequent to the latter coming to an end.
