Sam:
When a nutter shot the Congresswoman and several others in Arizona, he was stopped when ordinary, unarmed people tackled him as he tried to reload his gun. Amazingly, they didn't panic and rush around like headless chickens, they dealt with the problem and put a stop to it.
Why do you think police and military practice with guns? It's because in a stressful situation you rely on your training. As I told you, but clearly without making much impact, police training in this country was pretty sketchy back in the 70s and 80s, and civilians often practiced more than the police (it wasn't hard), and many police trained with civilians in their own time with their own guns.
But I feel this has gone on as long as anyone can reasonably stand. You decided to bring me into it, but I have decided that I have now had enough of this particular thread.

Thereby negating pretty much everything you've said above about how important it is that we should all be allowed to go round packing shooters just in case some nutter decides to go on a killing spree.
You can't have it both ways Robches.
Oh and ironically, Gabriella Giffords is/was a staunch advocate of the right to bear arms.

Yes, Robches 'shot' himself in the foot with that one!
You see what I did there, Eric? Comedy gold.

Hardly gents. You seem to think that people caught up in these situations necessarily panic, whereas even unarmed people can get it together to tackle a gunman and put his spree to an end. It's even easier to do if you are not unarmed. It's not rocket science, but I don't expect you to agree.

You still don't get it. You just love the idea of owning a gun and wearing a stetson.

You really can't get away from these pathetic wild west stereotypes and pointless ad hominem attacks. This always happens with civilian disarmament types when their arguments run out of road. The sad thing is that you will no doubt think I am being unreasonable, even though I have never resorted to such tactics. Feel free to cling on to your prejudices, but don't waste any more of my time.
So long and thanks for all the fish.

No prejudice, Robches. Plenty of evidence that backs up my beliefs.
You still haven't answered my question as to why there's a general correlation between homicide rates by guns, and the number of guns per capita.
And why, again, isn't the UK some sort of paradise for nutters who want to go around shooting up places, given it's an almost certainty no one will be carrying?
You said yourself, these people target gun-free zones, purposely.
