Here's a question though. Why in these times of economic strife, when a local (East End anyway) business could have benefited, were the fuckin tickets printed in America ?

I have my reservations about a lot of things to do with the Olympics but I will put all that aside for the opening ceremony.

I thought it was and awesome spectacle and emotional with it too. Iwas very impressed.

I remember not getting what Danny Boyle was doing with that presentation but I take it back....Well done Danny!!!!

Sorry I doubted you man! I love all his movies anyway

I'd second that. Did Stella fucking McCartney design the chav suits the British team had to wear? Looked like a Jimmy Savile fan club event. And was there any reason to bring Sir Paul out of cryogenic suspension again to drone his way through Hey fucking Jude, the most boring song the Beatles ever recorded? I turned it over for ten minutes, and when I turned it back he was still at it. Na, na, na, na, na, na, na yourself you boring old fucking waxwork.

I found myself asking the exact same question.

Every time there's some big national "bonding" event of this type, the tuneless old cunt gets wheeled out to perform either that or "Live And Let Die".

The Queen and James Bond was good though.

Just watching the Olympic cerenomy again on Iplayer and must say it truly is a masterpiece of theatre. The transformation from agrarian Britain to Industrial Britain to the beat of 1000 drummers and all live is amazing. I believe the Yanks were not impressed, well I expect it is because during the whole event they are not mentioned or acknowledged once! lol

That Danny Baker should be given a knighthood for his work!!wink!

I even sat though an hour of people walking into the stadium while BBC presenters announced useful facts cribbed off Wiki, just to see how they were going to handle the lighting of the cauldron?

Which they did brilliantly!

For a country that makes a lot of money off old school pomp and circumstance, we can still surprise ourselves with moving, magnificently quirky, eccentricity when we feel like it.

It was a just a shame about the GB team uniform. Looked like Stella Mccartney had stolen Jimmy Savilles wardrobe.

It is very difficult to clear a stadium like that quickly, I thought they brought Paul McCartney to get everybody running for the exits.

Otherwise loved it thought it was a great opening ceremony.

You are beng unfair to Stella McCartney she has tirelessly worked her way from the very bottom of the fashion industry. Starting as a toilet cleaner, them seamstress, kicked around and abused by sadistic and camp fashionistas, until finally she managed to claw her way to the very top, with no help whatsover!!wink!

Stella in the early years, dreaming of international fame and glory, but with no contacts and noone to turn to for help, how could success be possible?

Here is another poor down trodden victim of society who worked his way up from the gutter to make it as a pop sensation..........

Mark Ronson, read his sorry tale!

Here is a pic of his recent low key marriage, held at Wigan County Hall last year!
