helping the wealthy avoid tax. According to Debretts between 1999 and
2005 ? when he became an MP ? Gauke was a solicitor at Macfarlanes, a
top city law firm with expertise on tax efficiency. They boast on their
website:

I'm afraid the authorities have been after "Tradesmen" for decades. It's not just "Toffs". In fact at the height of New Labour in 2001, I was investigated by a tax inspector and as he went through the books I noticed one thing, he wasn't remotely interested in my business at all. He was actually collecting names of all the people I'd paid cash to, from window cleaners to builders. Even my book keeper was hauled off as she's been paying herself in cash! Yes this was the same New labour who were allowing billionaires to pay fuck all tax by using tax havens, whilst stamping on some window cleaner who was getting a fiver every month!

New Labour AND the Tories HATE the working man, there is no difference any more!It is a completely outdated concept that New Labour give a flying fuck for those that work and pay tax.

Anyway, my "Inspection" was actually a covert operation to grab people working for cash. All my books were squeaky clean of course, but the inspector left with a bundle of info!

I had two 'random' investigations around that time, and they photocopied every model release I had, which of course had the name and address of everyone i'd paid, I always wondered how many of them got a visit.

Worked out well for me though, I got over ?3000 refunded.

We have always paid models by cheque and the inspector didn't seem remotely interested in cheque payments, just cash payments.

I always pay by cheque too, I assume he saw my release contained name, address and amount paid, (therefore doubling as a receipt) and just thought copying all of it would be the easy way to get the data.

Yes, this bloke sure has a brass neck. There is fuckall wrong with paying cash for anything. What the recipient does with the cash is not our responsibility.

How about paying cash at the supermarket checkout?
Some tradesmen prefer cash because they then have instant access to it rather than wait 5 working days for a cheque to clear.
What they do with regards to the Inland Revenue is nothing to do with us and this cheeky bastard is only trying to look good with the recent revalations regarding certain unfunny twatts tax affairs.
