If I hadn't had just a bit too much rather excellent champagne at a very posh party I attended last week, (not the sort of do I get to that often if truth be told, famous journalist over there, half-forgotten leader of the Tory party over here;I work occasionally for the millionaire hostess's partner's media company), I would have remembered the name of the Tory MP who said the rebels in the Lords reform vote last week were heroes, and that both Cameron and Osborne are both total disasters who are on borrowed time in their current positions.

Just looked at a pic of Brady. No not him. He looked a lot more like what an older tory mp looks like if you see what I mean. I felt so out of place at the do politically, that I had to hit the champers just to make up for it, so consequently the name has gone.

I think the vast majority of Tory MPs realise that this is increasingly looking like a one term government. The Tory MPs who won their seats at the last election understand that they are just keeping their seats warm until 2015.

If a Tory party cannot win an overall majority during the worst recession since the 1930's with the most unpopular Labour PM in living memory then when can they, particularly when the economy continues to go down the pan and there is no end to austerity in sight?

I don't see sacking Cameron or Osborne offering any relief. Who would replace them? Francis Maude, William Hague, Michael Gove, Jeremy Hunt, Theresa May? Different face, same result.

Cameron must be praying that the Argentinians invade the Falklands.

Except that this time, what with all the cuts to the armed forces (including no carrier-based fighters for another decade or so) the outcome could be very different.
