How many of you have heard a song/tune and thought it was rubbish at that time, only to come across it again many years later (I'm talking about 30yrs for me), and thought what a awesome song/tune it really is.
My example song in question for this thread is..... 'Ruby Tuesday' by Melanie. She has a great voice, which I didn't appreciate at the time.
Have you any songs/tunes that you've come across after such a long time and thought the same as me?
I'm not talking about 2yrs, 5yrs or 10yrs down the line, I'm talking about 15yrs plus.

My taste varies by the hour!! Used to be a massive Queen fan, now listen to them once every few months. Constant's are Floyd, AC/DC, Led Zep and The Who but then I go off on a tangent and listen to Pet Shop Boys, New Order, Pulp...then on to Metallica and Maiden.....

Not particular songs/artists in my instance. More when it comes to genre. As a kid and teenager I hated punk. Couldn't stand it. Then I got into my 30s and found The Clash, via The Who (for some reason I can't remember). From there it was to the obvious Sex Pistols. Lately I listen to more Art-Punk/Avant-garde stuff like Patti Smith & Television.
Of course, it might have been more about a prejudice due to my age. At 12 or 13 years old in the late 80s I would have viewed 70s style punk as 'old fashioned' and for adults. Many of it being before I was born.
This is a different scenario to someone who's changed their views over 15+ years which only includes adulthood.

Punk for me too, i guess i was too young to understand it (it scared me lol), but now, so many bands that have had such an influence on music, and also after i took up guitar 20 odd years ago, regardless of popular belief, the likes of Steve Cook, Joe Strummer, Mick Jones et al could really play.

I was massively into heavy rock/metal in the early '80s (still am, though my tastes these days are much broader).
So when the Human League's "Dare" album came out in '81, naturally I scoffed and pooh-poohed it as wishy-washy electro-pop for schoolgirls, sad-lads and pooftahs who wore eyeliner.
It's only quite recently that I've come to appreciate it as actually being a rather good album.
Depeche Mode are another band who were big in that era who I thought were shit at the time, but have since come to appreciate more.

The office I'm in is quite eclectic, so far this morning we've had Slim Whitman, Fleetwood Mac, Bo Didley and the Spice Girls.
VFX artist, occasional porno-maker and frequent pub denizen.
