I sincerely fucking hope so.
Hopefully it won't be long before directors look back on this horrible fast, choppy, frenetic style of editing and say "what the fuck were we thinking?!"
I also agree that "Gladiator" was partly ruined by it. I say partly because otherwise (action scenes apart) it was a good film.

Quantum of Solace
Re: Quantum of Solace
I wonder if the editors or drector had been forced to watch a load of old Hitchcock movies before they embarked on Quantum of Solace? In the name of God! I endured watching The Birds, it was nearly 45 long, long minutes or was it DAYS?, before you saw the first beak rustle someones bouffant hairdo and don't start me on "The Wrong Man", it was like walking through mud, it was so utterly boring!
I think after having endured this and then handed Quantum of Solace, I too would have chopped and cut at high speed, probably regretting it later, but not being able to help myself!!happy!

Re: Quantum of Solace
It's true, some old movies can really lack pace.
Speaking of 'The Birds', does anyone else think there was more going on beneath the surface? It's ocurred to me that the little girl could really be Rod Taylor's character's daughter, not his sister. And her mother could be the school teacher that he was once romantically involved with, but they're keeping it a secret from Tippi Hedren? Just a thought. Maybe old Hitch put an extra mystery in there for us to figure out?

Bukkake shots where you are with a few other guys...is fucking gay.
In fact, about pulling trains with a woman...you wanna have sex with other guys and mix your sperm with theirs...you're just using a woman as a conduit.

I saw a 3D version of "The Birds" at Universal Studios in LA and I must admit it was very impressive, even in black & white!
