Obama behind virus attacks on Iran
From a new book published and supported by New York Times research it
appears that the Stuxnet Worm virus (and probably the recent Flame
computer virus) were both approved by Obama as attacks on Iran.
It appears that the Stuxnet virus, that caused huge problems to the Iranian
atomic program, was approved by Obama, orchestrated by Israeli
Intelligence and delivered into the system, quite simply, by a paid worker
at an Iranian defence plant using a thumbnail USB.
Personally I have no axe to grind in all this world of skullduggery - I just
wish the Americans were not such sanctimonious holier-than-thou bloody
hypocrites about the way they behave around the world !!!

Frank
Setting aside the rights and wrongs of this case, I am all in favour of some cyber terrorism and skulduggery, as an alternative to bombs and bullets. There are many other ways to get control of a country apart from militarily.
Look at Germany. They appear to have taken over the economies of Greece, Italy, Spain and Portugal without losing a single soldier!
And as for Ireland, here is a country that fought for centuries for its independence. So what does it do with that independence? It joins the euro, an insane idea unless political union with mainland Euroland comes with it.
ANd after all that, when they have a chance to vote down the EU austerity death spiral treaty, they come out in favour of the treaty in yesterday's referendum.
Another example of turkeys voting for Xmas.

You seem surprised Frank that "This kind of thing" goes on! I'm afraid, long gone are the simple days of Bulldog Drummond and a bout of fisticuffs that would sort out any troublesome Arabs! The Internet is a veritable Wild Frontier of hackers, viruses, trojan horses, root kits and no doubt thousands of other devious devices for compromising and eavesdropping on other peoples computer systems. The biggest surprise would be if someone "Published a book" that said the Americans or any other country "Were not" engaged in these practices!
PS As this Stuxnet info , you read, came in the form of a so called, "Book", you can be sure the details were on the Internet at least 2 years previously to its publication and the New York Times "support" for the "book" would have come as a result of their plucky, kid reporters just going on line and looking up, "Stuxnet worm virus", of which I found 624,000 entries !wink!

Jim and David
Jim - dinosaur that I am, anti-technocrat Liddite reactionary I may be, but
I am aware, dear fellow, that the Web is alive with viruses and many of `em
probably government-sponsored....my point was that the Americans like to
complain about other nations (North Korea, Iran, even those imperialist
Brits not letting the lovely Argentinians stomp all over the Falklands and its
oil reserves), yet they sneakily do this kind of cyber-terrorist act with
impunity............David - what is this bee in your bonnet about Ireland or,
for that matter, the European Union ? There is old Jim often accusing you of
being an old socialist and yet, if you seem now to despise Europe, I must
takeyou for a right-winger !! This kind of talk and you and Jim will be
having tea-parties and crumpets together ere long......
Re: Jim and David
I take it Frank you are quoting this little gem from david's post,'
"Look at Germany. They appear to have taken over the economies of Greece, Italy, Spain and Portugal without losing a single soldier!"
It could have been lifted straight out of the Daily Mail!
I'm sorry for my "techno phobe" jolly japes Frank, but I still recall that evening in the Marriot Hotel when I showed you an IPad , you recoiled in horror, covered your eyes and said, "You bring the dream stone, the magic tablet of The Gods, that shows the world in moving pictures and talks in a thousand tongues, this is heap, big MAGIC!!"
Once I calmed you down with a few gin and tonics, you tentatively took your first step to the world of computing and I'll never forget the look of wonder when you tapped your very first word into google, "PORN" and low and behold, 20,000,000 entries came up, there was no stopping you after that!!wink!

I don't see any contradiction between being a socialist and opposed to the EU. Before they sold out many socialists travailed against the Common Market - Prescott, Kinnock and (still does) Tony Benn - and that was before it became the corrupt, self-serving monolith it is now.

You seem hopelessly confused, Frank.
The likes of Michael Foot were dead against the EU.
Essex Lad is correct.
