This is for a small project I'm working on, would love some help with the minute details. oK, here goes. Some questions are just looking rank titles etc...
1) Titles needed for German command :
a) the German guys (their title) listening to radio transmissions from Uk in 1940
b) who would order a small air raid on scottish coast base (commander, lientenanant)?? Also title of his subordinate, next in command.
2) Which airbase would planes launch from to invade scotland? Norwegian base? I don't think Norway was taken over intil april 1940? So would launch have taken place from German base, and which one?
3) How long would it take an bomber plane to get from the German base to Scotland?
4) In the UK, if the army neded a civilian to carry out a secret mission, who would visit the person's house to ask? lieutenant, commander??
That's it for now. Thanks guys

WW2 QUESTIONS
Re: WW2 QUESTIONS
Well, no one seems to know any of the answers to your questions.
I would hazard the following guesses:
2) Wouldn't they invade from England? Or are you thinking that they would capture Scotland first and use that as a base to attack England?
4) Why would a civilian be needed at all? I would imagine they'd have more than enough soldiers for all their requirements.
Best place would be the Imperial War Museum for this kind of arcana.

Re: WW2 QUESTIONS
Only the FW Condor had the range to reach Scotland from der Vaterland. It was the only 4 engined long range bomber they had. All of the air raids on England were by Heinkels and Junkers which were twin and single engined aircraft.

Re: WW2 QUESTIONS
The Germans were well able to bomb Scotland and Northern Ireland with twin engined bombers flying from northern Europe. The Condor was a long range maritime patrol aircraft, it was used to attack shipping.

Re: WW2 QUESTIONS
Dornier do17, HE 111 ,Junkers JU 88 all medium bombers lacking range which came back to haunt them later on when they didn't have a fleet of bombers that could hit the russian manufacturing industry.Condor wasn't the only 4 engined bomber they had but attempts to get others in high numbers never really happened.Think the condor only built approx 200+ times.
I suggest you watch the history ,yesterday , discovery channels and sometimes nat geographic for this and the world at war currently on yesterday is a must see.

The same bombers they used in the Blitz of 1940-41, Heinkel 111, Junkers 88 and Dornier 17. The Germans did not have the same doctrine of strategic bombing as Britain and the USA, and so never developed the four engined heavy bombers we had.
