City are champions

Great result for City fans. Even better result for the Premier League. The bus home from Sunderland to Purplenose Mansions will be a fun one!!

They finished joint top with exactly the same points as Manure and won the 'title' on goal difference only, hardly champions when you consider how many times Manure have prevailed, like Robbie Savage pointed out City didn't win the title, united threw it away. Stlll, great to see both Manchester teams at the top.

Yep, but most of the goal difference was made up from the 6-1 spanking they gave Man U.

Some do say Man U through it away by having a bad patch in the last couple of weeks of the season. Man City had an equally bad patch themselves, however, they had theirs earlier on, which gave them a chance to recover.

Good to have another name on the cup.

City had best home record, United best away. Two fairly average sides - their failure to clear the first Champions League hurdle demonstrated that. Ditto their exits from the Europa League.

A nice element of irony in City winning the title deep into "fergietime".

I bet there was much drowning of sorrows in the Home Counties last night as all those southern glory-hunter ManUre fans reached for the Kleenex. And the Purple Twat's look of bemusement and disbelief when the final score came in at Sunderland was a joy to behold.

Nothing great about a team buying the championship! Time to bring in some form of budget so all clubs have an equal chance.

City are no more guilty of "buying" the title than Blackburn, Chelsea or indeed ManUre before them.

I do agree though that money and greed have spoiled the game and I would love to see a return to the days when an unfashionable provincial pub side (like Forest) could come from nowhere and win the league and then go on to win the European Cup. Those days are long gone though, sadly.

I think the difference is living within one's means. Man Utd, Barcelona, Real Madrid etc can afford players other teams might not based on the amount of fans and merchandise sales around the globe. (Barca and Real have an advantage due to selling their own TV rights but still it's based on merit). People might be pissed off when Man Utd win 7 EPLs in a decade but they worked at it. That has to count for something.

You mention Blackburn and I think it's a perfect example of what can happen when the sugar daddy a) passes away. or b) gets bored.
