Is there not enough free porn on the net than to have it on your TV as well?

Its bad enough that porn is demonised for the corruption of the under aged. If it ever managed to go on TV we will never hear the end of it

They only time porn junkies will ever be happy, is when local libraries are converted into free porn DVD lending centres run by pirates, paid by the local council, where punters could borrow or better still be given as many porn DVDs as they required.

Setting aside your obvious dislike of hardcore porn what about getting the authorities to ease off the free to air channels?

A model can't even say 'Fuck' at 3am on a sex channel without the authorities threatening a fine. A bit of outer labia or even a lingering close up on a pair of granny knickers risks a sanction. Can that be right?

I've had to deal with fucking lawyers for 14 years making cuts on softcore stuff for broadcast, so don't lecture me on the absurdity of Ofcom and their rules! What is "Right" is not having porn shoved down everyones throats unencrypted on the TV, especially to an audience who don't actually give a toss anyway. Where in the World can you see unencryped hardcore on TV? Where did I say I "disliked" hardcore porn? I dislike freebie hunting porn junkies, because they are killing our once great industry! To repeat, it is porn junkies who are killing us off, NOT Ofcom, NOT the government and NOT anti porn campaigners.

Sorry if I offended you, the line about "dislike hardcore porn" was meant as a humorous dig at people who are posting on this site but against strong content on TV, and had a silly smiley to show it wasn't meant seriously.

There is no suggestion of putting hardcore out unencrypted. Part 4 of the petition talks about R18 on encrypted channels - with age verification - after midnight.

Parts 1-3 talk about cert 18 strength material. We can see cert 18 violence late at night, why not sex?

You have masses of first hand knowledge of TV censorship but there are 1000s of viewers out there who have no idea of the time effort and money that gets wasted on compliance despite the fast that almost no-one complains.

As for porn-junkies killing the market you have my total sympathy. What do the free sites get out of it unless they push people to paid sites or infect PCs with viruses? No industry can survive on a free basis. At the risk of annoying you, surely if strong material were available on TV (with suitable controls) the UK market for adult content would have more money in it? Censorship delivers unsatisfying content and drives people to alternatives, not all of them good.

Are you saying porn is OK on the internet, despite most teens having access, filtering being ineffective and any extreme material being available, but it would be a bad thing to broadcast legal, consenting sex late at night with suitable controls on TV where some limits can be set?
