I wasn't arguing in favour of homosexuality. And what I was hoping to achieve was post a link showing these findings. If you have any evidence the findings are flawed, or have contradictory evidence of any kind, feel free to add it all to the discussion.
Don't be so defensive.

Re: How queer...
Thank you, Bamboo for the innuendo and for proving my last post right. If someone were to disapprove of homosexuality in any way, shape or form, then obviously they'd have to be secretly homosexual themselves! That's the exact mind-set I talking about. Is that all you've got? When someone says something you don't like, do you come back with some kind of well thought out argument? No, you just say "I think he doth protest too much - He must be sucking some bloke's cock!" Do you really think that school yard stuff is going to work with me? You really don't get it, do you?
Sam, what I meant when I said that I don't know what you're trying to achieve, is that surely your original post can only be counter-productive. People who already agree with you, will probably still agree with you. But, you're not going to convince anyone else by making inflammatory statements and crude generalisations.
And yes, you were arguing in favour of homosexuality and homosexual rights. In what other way can we infer your original post?
And as for 'evidence'? I'm just a regular bloke, I'm not a psychologist. What do you think, I'm going to run off and write a paper rebutting the conclusions arrived at by the doctors in those articles? No, I'm just going to give my opinion like anyone else would. I thought that's what these boards were for. (It seems that nobody can have an opinion about anything these days. All they do is repeat verbatim what they've heard some PC idiot on TV say - But that's another topic.)
And Sam, one more thing. Defensive? Read your own post again! You're the one making the accusations ('tough men' sucking each others dicks, etc). If you don't want people to react to stuff like that, then don't post it.
Fuck! I don't know why I'm being drawn into this argument, anyway. I only came to this topic in the first place because I thought it was going to be about The Fast Show or something....

Re: How queer...
Well what a contrived piece of so called research. And as the Slate article points, out the results are susceptible of a different interpretation, in fact just the opposite of the researchers conclusions.
We are left with nothing more than a subjective conclusion by the researchers, and it is hard to escape the suspicion that that was the desired conclusion in the first place.
There seems, to me at least, to be a pattern emerging in the common purpose of the modern political ethos, and that is to eventually convince the entire population that we are all homo sexual just under the surface.

I have asked for this profile to be deleted.

What would be the point of that ?

Re: How queer...
The researchers just presented the findings. They came to no definite conclusions. They admit any engorging of the penis can come from both sexual arousal and fear/anger.
I get the impression you'd be angry at any suggestion the former is true, but not the latter? Why is this?
And I can't for the life of me work out why there is any 'political ethos' to brainwash us all into thinking we're homosexuals. Unless they think we can get ourselves out of the recession by having a better dress sense and buying more Shirley Bassey albums.

Partly true. I don't think I'll persuade anybody to change their mind, really. I did understand the findings would be inflammatory to some, though, and that is one of the problems, isn't it?
Nevertheless, despite what you might perceive to be inflammatory, or how many peoples' views are changed, it's rather amusing, and interesting to find out the truth. Well known homophobes have been found to be having secret gay lives so we know that it is true that some homophobes ARE gay. That is undeniable. The interesting bit is is the homophobia a fa?ade or is it a real phobia based on shame/guilt of their own desires? And what percentage of homophobes ARE gay compared to straight homophobes who are just ill educated, ignorant or plain nasty fuckers who just hate anybody who's not like they are?

Of course not! It was a general way of saying 'have you read of any similar research which contradicts the findings I linked to?'. I mean, if I'd posted the post I did without links to the research you'd surely ask for evidence. I'd understand you didn't mean I actually do the research myself!

I think this just proves my point about you being defensive. I didn't accuse anybody. I merely gave a little anecdote about stories I'd heard from some gay friends about so-called 'tough guys' turning out not to be what they try to convey publicly. If you saw that as an accusation then you have to ask yourself why you saw it as such when it clearly is nothing of the sort. You got defensive - fact.
