Why dont the authorities simply get the makers of cigarettes to remove the 4000+ chemicals which have been known for ages to be carcinogenic.

They've stopped them dead in their tracks trying to making smoking more enticing by adding different flavoured extracts

One suspects their like every other government of the day addicted to the tax they receive from tobacco sales.

I good dollop of common sense wouldnt go stray with this issue

If your a worker and your in an enclosed space smoking should be banned
regardless of air conditioning - smoking / non-smoking areas are farcical
because smoke forgets to stop.

Its long term exposure to cigarette smoke that causes illness

Infact any enclosed space particularly where the young and vulnerable like kids reside should be the last place anyone should light up.

I know this because at the age of 4 I was admitted to hospital with an asthma attack looking very blue apparently triggered by my chain smoking parents in our very small 2 bedroom house.

As for those that doubt passive smoking kills

My mothers mother died from passive smoking at the age of 52
She never smoked but grand father smoked like a train.

If your lucky you might have resilient genes that will withstand the poison/chemicals in cigarettes but if your not you'll be just another early victim.

Unlike alcohol or even cigars there is no safe level of indulging with cigarettes because of the extra ingredients the tobacco companies use.

You wouldnt eat or drink the ingredients they put in cigarettes because you know their dangerous yet somehow they become OK if you inhale them

Smoking addiction is a serious one given being a heroin addict is less
addictive.

Agreed, Deuce. We just have to accept that when people do something they enjoy, they're not best pleased to be blamed for the negative side affects. This is why many cigarette smokers scoff at the evidence regarding passive smoking, why alcoholics deny they have a problem and why people who love cars think man-made global warming is just codswallop.

No one likes to be the one who's partly to blame.......unless you're one of those weirdos who pays for prostitutes to stamp on their gonads.

You can be arrested for smoking - if you are smoking crack that is.

Simply put if it affects others ie passive smoking then it should be barred from all public areas

sorry but having worked in a hospital i can assure you that we do get a significant number of people in to A&E who have lit up while in bed and started a fire - and they were probably pissed aswell ! so you do get one leading the other.

The UK government dont want to ban smoking through the extortionate amount of tax it generates - like wise with booze you have a significant amount of tax again being generated - why you think they are so keen to police the ports to stop cheap booze and drink thats why.

Drink can be enjoyed in moderation smoking cant not if its done in a public area shared with non smokers. They often talk about people who smoke until they are 99 and never a ill day maybe so but what about the poor buggers that dont and end up with smoking related illness ? Roy Castle never smoked but he had smokers related illnesses due to playing in smokey areas.

If you continue to believe the crap about 2nd hand smoke not being dangerous then read the research that was done - yes there are some folks that dont get the diseases but they may be different to others that are prone to being affected. Why should they suffer through your determination to continue to smoke ?

I don't think you got my post, nor which side of the debate I'm on here. Hint: it's your side.

It would be pretty pointless turning up at a and e with any form of cancer,so your point is stupid, the only smoking related injuries would probably be caused by people who were pissed whilst smoking.

So it was pretty silly of you to make the point that A&E rooms are devoid of smoking-related cases, wasn't it? If my pointing this out was stupid, your original point was retarded.
