Poor, naive Jimbo

Post by David Johnson »

You are such a naive chap, Jim. You provide a link to TORY blogger, Iain Dale. who compared Greenpeace supporters to al Qaeda terrorists.

Now for your homework, go away and think if Iain Dale might just be a eensy teensy bit biased. Perhaps for a more reliable appraisal, you can ask George Osborne for an objective assessment of how the Labour government did?

Good lad!

All parties have that in abundance.

Bendover trousers down Maude is a stupid fucking public schoolboy. Just one of the 23 multimillionaires in this current Tory-Lib Dem Cabinet of 29.

I will be looking to independents like Galloway.

"So when are labour getting on the front foot?

My view on this, for what it is worth, probably not much, is.

1. The Labour leadership election in 2010 took forever until the end of the year more or less which meant that the Tories had a clear run for 6 months to say "Labour's spendthrift ways have brought this country to the brink of collapse just like Greece and the recession was all their fault" virtually unchallenged.

2. Now despite the Tory statements being untrue in the sense that the debt was no higher in 2007 than it had been under the Tories and the recession was caused by a banking collapse, these views have lodged in Joe Public's mind so that Labour lag way behind the Tories in terms of economic competence in the polls even though Labour went out of office with growth rebounding and unemployment dropping to be replaced by the Tories who have flatlined the economy for 18 months with rising unemployment.

3. 90% of the printed media in the UK is anti-Labour for the obvious reason that their owners benefit more from Tory governments. So there will always be onslaughts on Labour leaders whether it be Foot, Kinnock, Blair, Brown, Miliband etc. out of all proportion.

4. The British people are not generally renowned for their intelligence e.g. see petrol panic as an example. together with them swallowing the Tory lie in 2010 that we are just like Greece. The Tory coalition have dropped that argument now otherwise the British public might just start asking the question "Hang on, if we were like Greece in 2010 on the point of collapse, why havent we collapsed by now given that there has been no growth and borrowing and unemployment has soared?

5. What people like your good self need to remember is that roughly we have only seen about 10% of the cuts taking place so far. "Ya aint seen anything yet". So despite the above points, the average Labour lead in the polls is currently about 8%. I would expect this to increase as the other 90% of the cuts start kicking in and the economy continues to tank.

6. The British people together with not being particularly bright in general are extremely fickle. THe ratings for the Lib Dems went from about 15% to 30% in the space of about a week in the pre-election period when Clegg appeared on television, smiled a lot and blathered on about the "new politics". Alas as the Cleggster is finding out, being in power is slightly more difficult. Please note, George Galloway. Eternal opposition does have its advantages.

Milliband is fucking useless

1. I dont think so. WHen he first started appearing at PMQ in parliament he was crap. The last half a dozen times I have seen him, he has wiped the floor with Cameron. WIth regard to this week, the Easter recess is the equivalent for Cameron of a boxing trainer throwing the white towel into the ring to stop further punishment.

2. He is reluctant, perhaps over reluctant, to reveal actual policies too soon before an election because this would then allow the 90% of the press that is Tory to carry out a non-stop 24/7 Red Ed, Commie this etc etc.

3. He needs to define what is different about Labour under Blair/Brown with real policies as and when, but there is plenty of time for that.

Time will tell. Early days so far.

Meant to have said "needs to define what is different about Labour under his leadership compared to Labour under Blair/Brown"

Under Blair/Brown Labour was too Tory Lite for my liking. Hence, the disillusionment with the main parties which we are seeing now.

It was all going so well until that little mixed metaphor.
'...a boxing trainer throwing the white towel into the ring ...'.
Have to generally agree with the rest though.
