Prefer 1980's photo shoots...

Again not sure if its age... mid 40's.... but I do prefer the photo shoots from the 1980's....

I was looking into some old packing cases and there was a large collection of my Mayfair's, Men Only and Club from around 1983 to 89....

Sitting down and flicking though them I noticed how good the quality of the sets were, the quality of the lighting and of course the model !! The sheer sexiness was all in the sets..

I also noticed how much more sexier the experience was to see the model with legs open but not to the point, as now days, where I feel am studying gynaecology and the wider and more open is best!

It was also funny to see the Mayfair's had been re touched to remove any "pink" on some of the shots.

Those were the days when publishers looked for, and appreciated, quality. And even more to the point, were willing to pay to achieve it. Unlike today where it's, "How cheap can I have it? Free? Can't you do any better than that?"

I also suspect you prefer women who look like women, as they did then, and not the tattooed geezer-bird we have today.

Modern porn is about cheapness and shoddyness.... personally I think
photographers back then were onto a very good thing, almost too good.
Jack Harrison made so much he bought antiques and properties, the
Allums did the same, John Graham was in and out in not much more than
a decade to enjoy his wealth....But people like Jack, Joanie Allum and dear
old Donald Milne gave us beautiful girls, stylish clothes and sets, real
artistry in their work. It will, in time I am sure, be seen as the golden age
of softcore porn. There is not a lot, seemingly, that Dave Wells and I can
completely agree on except this - modern porn is all budgets ever lower
and crap.

I totally agree with your comments... one of my fave photographers was the late Donald Milne... some of his work was really top class and will, as you say, go down as the golden years in soft-core porn.

Like everything in life, things move on. Imagine Von Boy if they were still churning out the same old stuff they did in the 1980's nowadays, you'd be saying, "Enough already, give me a fucking break and move on!" and given the chance the dinosaurs would still be knocking out the same thing they did 30 years ago. It was so easy, swimming pool, venetian blind, shove a blue light through it, oily stud dressed as pizza delivery boy and big haired and boobed bird, crap script and voila, we have "Art" and instant piles of wonga.

They churned out 1000's of movies on variations on this theme for years and in effect killed off the porn industry by "death by boredom" You could set your watch by this shite, 2 mins "Comedy" 10mins blow job, 4 positions and cum shot again and again and again.....The stuff of that time was no more or less "Crap" than the stuff of today. It was just "Crap" in a different wrapper!

If pornographers made video machines and phones, we'd be still pushing down clunky buttons on giant VHS machines and our telephones would be the size of a shoebox!

There are many that seem to remember some sort of "Golden Age" of porn, when money was a plenty and everything was wonderful, well yes it was, for a tiny, exclusive little club of togs and producers who controlled everything. Thank God their stranglehold has been crushed and the market has been opened up to one and all. As you can imagine the so called, "Ruling elite" are not very happy at all as their gravy train has fallen into a ravine! lol

So they continually dismiss everything made nowadays as, "Rubbish", probably a bit like those that said about the first locomotives, "Who would want to go on one of those when you can go in a horse and carriage" or about computers, "They'll never catch on!"

spoken like a true pornographer - its all about keeping up or leading the crowd. The industry was restricted when there was no internet or relative ease of distribution like there is now. Thus the market itself was limited. Its grown and moved on - porn there is only a few ways that a girl and guy can copulate it becoems boring so porn has had to make it interesting to keep it moving - bukkake and all sorts of angles but it comes down in the end to a braw bird getting the arse shagged off of her.

Id hate to go back to the 80's when porn was more of a fashion statement than an actual wankers paradise, now you can find what ever perversion floats your boat and the world has kissed good by to vanilla porn.

You can't compare today with then. Technology has changed and now anyone can make porn.

Only skilled photographers could make porn in those days. I suppose there was real skill to it? The models were also more glamourous.

Now anyone can be a pornstar and anyone can make porn. Most of which is shit, full of ugly chavs, tats and POV. I could do better myself. !whistle! I'm thinking of starting a site using lots of spandex!
