Saw it on the BBC website earlier. Stunned he was on tv only yesterday, laughing and joking.

Suicide is the biggest killer of men aged between 15 and 35 and yet hardly any money is put into combating it. If cancer killed as many young people we'd be hearing, and doing, much more.

Very sad and on the face of it, incomprehensible.

A very successful professional footballer who presumably is a multi-millionaire, doing a great job as Wales manager, asking apparently about making a repeat appearance on Football Focus yesterday for later in the year, with a family and two young sons and then all of a sudden, found hanged!

I can only assume that there was a well-hidden depression that he had been fighting with, some kind of worsening medical problem or something catastrophic occurred in the last 24 hours.

Whatever the reason, sad indeed.

Cheers

Very sad. Depression is a much misunderstood and stigmatised illness, but it's very hard to know where to go for help. It's all very well your GP telling you to get in touch if your situation worsens, but these episodes tend to be at night when no one is available to help.

I had genuinely never heard of him until today as I don't watch football, but this is a very sad occurance to happen to someone who is only 42 and has a wife and kids. They showed the clip of him live on the BBC yesterday, about 12-18 hours before he topped himself, and he seemed fine - but clearly wasn't.

RIP.

So how do you prevent suicide?

I don't know, Rodders. Maybe we should be doing more to find out.

I heard mentioned this morning that there could be some sexual thing behind this sad situation and similar to the Michael Hutchence death in "97
