Riots in Cairo

Post by jimslip »

Is it the case that it is simply impossible for those in the Middle East to NOT live under a crooked and brutal, dicatatorship of one kind or another? Will this happen in Libya as well in the near future, the thugs will rise up and simply take over.....again?

They were described as 'pro democracy' in February. The newspeople probably think it's too confusing to describe them similarly 9 months later.

It's worth remembering that democracy isn't about whether or not one has the opportunity to participate in free elections; it's about the opportunity to be genuinely involved in decisions and the quality of that involvement. In that respect many demonstrations in the UK are pro democracy.
