David:

I rather think that if the UK was paying 7% on its bonds you would be citing that as evidence of Boy George's incompetence. Do I hear the sound of one hand clapping?

Possibly. It would depend on what else was going on re unemployment, growth etc etc.

Anyway I've spent more than enough time answering your questions.

I think you are right, basically, David....or, putting it another way, I think
it far too slick, lazy and convenient for politicians to blame Britain`s woes
all on Johnny Foreigner. When a Govt is failing you must find a convenient
scapegoat. The current lot in No 10 have been kicking Europeans in the
balls too much lately and it is clearly a cover-up (to a great extent, Europe
is buggered up enough anyway) for their own short-comings.
