I've always found the people who do this sort of thing an odd bunch. Whether it was the M11 link road protests in the 1990's (often called the Wanstead Riots), the Criminal Justice Bill, or the Newbury Bypass demo's, these people are generally of the same ilk. With their hobnail boots, dreadlocked hair, DSS signing-on books in their jackets, and their cut-glass public school accents, I can only assume they hitch their wagon to any cause as part of trying to rebel against 'the system' because they were so constrained by it when growing up. By the time most of them hit 30 they will be living the very life they protested against and will be taking it all with open arms.

Normally i would agree with Max, but there were a lot on that march who i spoke to who are not against capitalism and of course neither am i, but they are against the greedy bankers who got the world into its present finacial mess and expect the taxpayer to bail them out whilst they gave themselves big bonuses and swan around on their yachts, on that i do agree.

The Finsbury Square operation was well planned as a well known Investment Banks offices are directly opposite, i wont mention any names but it starts with Blooms...

None of the ones I spoke to had a fucking clue why they were there, they were just sheep following the crowds, it seemed to me. "Why are you here then, what are you against?" "Them" "Who's them?" "You know.... them"

Right, ok..

Some bloke was banging on about "them" giving "us" money, but just a bit of it. I wanted him to tell me who "them" are, so I could go round and get my share, but he remained schtum on identities and kept saying "them" or "they" with no fucking idea what he was there for at all.

All mad.

Waste of time

Post by David Johnson »

This strikes me as largely a complete waste of time. The government has carried out a very successful campaign aimed at terrifying the population who aren't rich in the last 18 months.

The only measures that will have an impact on this government is if they in turn are made to feel terrified. And typically there are two ways of doing that:

1. Overwhelming mass demonstrations i.e. multimillions.
2. Overwhelming, uncontrollable mass violence aimed at state buildings.

Alas, a bunch of people having a camping break in Central London will have limited effect.

Cheers

This particular protest is a joke:

Most people there do not know why they are there or who they are against.

9 out of every tent is empty at night

the few that sleep there sleep to late into the day to do anything during the morning rush hour

All in all a bit of a shambles

Reminds me of the petition against a mobile phone mast, where 70% of the people signing it gave a mobile number to be contacted on.

We have need of you again, great king.
