Sadly a lot of this about class war,and its class war from the establishment and the police against liverpudlians. It was always the case and always will be the case.

Although the police must take a large portion of the blame for this happening I think some of the blame is also on the design of that stand.
If the standing area had been one large open pen with just the fence at the front and down the far sides the fans already in the stand and those entering after would have been able to move sideways.

Look at the design of the Kop at Anfield, the Kippax at Maine Rd, and the Stretford End at Old Trafford. These were all basically all a big open pen.

I have always thought, it wasn't the fences at the front that did the damage but having the stand split into 4 smaller pens with no control at the back.

So the Justice For The 96 should be going after Sheffield Wednesday, Sheffield City Council, The HSE and the chief steward? Good. Now please sue the shit out of these people and leave the rest of the country to get on with their lives.

I am surprised that you are suggesting this, Arginald.

Sheffield Wednesday had serious deficiencies in the safety of its ground, and Sheffield city council failed in its certifying responsibilities. Those bodies paid damages to the families and victims who sued for negligence.

How am I aware of this? It was in the Guardian article yesterday which you were ranting and raving about in your post earlier today

YOu must have missed that bit while you were totally misinterpreting the rest of the article.

THe reason that the Hillsborough group are "still going on about it" is that it has taken this length of time to get the promise of disclosure of the relevant documentation related to the disaster as explained in the link here

As I've discovered about Arginald over time on this OT board where we've had our differences, you're better bashing your head against a brick wall !idontbelieveit! than trying to explain logical things to him.

You're one of the brightest sparks on here, David, and I always read your posts with interest.

Your support on this issue is marvellous - and, FYI, I'm one of the lucky Leppings Lane survivors from that fateful day.

Cheers, fella.

Combination of things.

Thatcher demonising ALL football fans. If she hadn't they wouldn't have been put in caged pens like animals.

Incompetent policing made worse as the guy put in charge had never policed a football match in his entire career.

Pissed up scousers without tickets just bowling into the ground.

Lack of paramedics on the day to deal with the level of injuries and accidents that occurred.

'shit' football stadia.

Either way the incident killed football, I hate being made to sit so why can't they have a standing section as that's what I want to do.

The topic bores me now, it's not going to bring back the dead and I don't see how it could possibly bring closure to their families.

Thank you kind sir.

And I trust that you along with all the others who saw dreadful scenes on that day are able to eventually come to terms with the disaster.

All the best

"Pissed up scousers without tickets just bowling into the ground."

Again, the Taylor report clearly states that this allegation is untruthful.

Football grounds may have been unsafe in the seventies and eighties and mistakes may have been made by the police.... yet match after match passed passed without incident for fans of every club up and down the land for years and years, cup finals, semi finals, european games .... yet somehow Liverpool fans were at the centre of two disasters....got to be a message there somewhere. If the police were at fault how come no Forest fans were killed? (they had to be policed as well remember). No sorry, but Liverpool fans have as much blood on their hands as anyone else. You can put Margaret Thatcher in jail, you can put the Chief of Sheffield Police in jail for all I care but the fans are not blameless...if you can see that a crush is developing....dont enter the ground...its not difficult. I dont need a policeman to tell me its getting a bit crowded!! Honestly!

How are people at the back supposed to know what is going on at the front? Its difficult.
