So the Yanks now have a reason to attack Iran, probably driven by the ever powerful Jewish lobby in Washington. World War 3 anyone?

The sad thing is that when the US do attack Iran, British forces will be standing "Shoulder to Shoulder" with our American allies.

I can see Cameron making the speech in the House of Commons now.

It's been that way as long as I can remember.

You have to go back to the 1960's when Harold Wilson refused to send troops to Vietnam to recall a time when we had the guts to stand up to the Yanks.

I don't think we are quite there yet. Firstly we must all witness a charade, almost a theatrical performance that will be played out for us saps to lap up. Act 1 has already been played out over the last few years, ie "Iran is a menace to World peace and Israel led by a madman intent on building a nuclear weapon." (No one ever wonders why the Iranians need to build a reactor to get weapons grade plutonium when with all their money they could buy a lorry load on the black market, one dude in Russia even had a load in his garden shed, unsurprisingly he is now dead!"

Act 2 may be starting to play out now with the alleged attempted assassination by Iranians of the Saudi Ambassador to the US. You will always find Saudis not far from any plot against their Arab neighbours.

I think Act 3, will be a supposed "Cowardly missile attack" launched from inside Irans borders against Israel. Or maybe an "Assassination" of an Israeli dignitary, by a "Crazed Iranian anti-Semite".

Whatever it is, there are already a bunch of ex Ivy League clever dick CIA and Israeli spooks working on a glamourous and outrageous scenario for an attack against Iran even as I write.

The only reason it hasn't happened already is that Ahmadinejad has threatened to block the Strait of Hormuz if Iran is attacked, which will fuck up the Worlds oil supplies. Anyone have any game plan ideas for attacking Iran? How would you launch an attack on them yet make it appear that it is their fault??

I would basically agree with Jim that its requires a casus belli, or reason for
war and, in the case of Iran, a bloody big one, to get America on a major war
footing. The sheer cost of the 2 Iraq Wars and much discontent domestically
about them means that an Iran War would be a hard sell to the US public,
though not, I think, beyond the bounds of possibility.
The American rumblings about Iran must be seen in context of the jewish
lobby in US politics. This is powerful in UK too, but absolutely vast in the USA.
It is Israel that most fears Iran and quite rightly so. An atomic weapon in
Iranian hands scares them shitless.
My own view is that flash point will come when Iran announces it has its first
A-bomb or Mossad think they are super-close. America has to do nothing
except make bleating noises at the UN since the Israelis, as always, will take
matters into their own hands. The outcome of that will result in who knows
what but very possibly a war.

The real reason will of course be Obama has been a totally useless president both at home and abroad. Even the non whites in the US think he has been smoke, mirrors and bugger all else. Another major war against a new bogeyman will do wonders for the defence industry and also keep thousands of military trained hispanics and blacks away from gangs...Now I wonder who the Yanks will develop after Communism and Islam.......radical Buddhists? Suicide Yoga? Ginger people?
